Earth Day, 22 April

Earth from space (NASA)
The first Earth Day occurred 22 April 1970 all over the country. Gaylord Nelson, the creator of Earth Day, gave a speech in Denver, Colorado on that day, making sure that the concept of "environment" included not only clean water and air but poverty, hunger, and urban blight as well.

Since then, Earth Day has continued to be a rallying point for environmentalists and the newer "green" movement. Earth Day Indiana will be held at White River State Park in Indianapolis on Sat., 27 April 2013.

On BSU campus today, the movie Thin Ice-The Inside Story of Climate Science is being shown in the Architecture building, room AB014-015 at noon.
